Looking west at the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon, this is the Upper Settling Pond used to settle silts out of the water before generating hydro-electric power and releasing water to various canal companies.
One of many gates used along the Power Canal. The early Pioneers built this Power Canal in 1908 to divert water from the Spanish Fork River for purposes of generating hydro-electric power and then to distribute the water to various south Utah County canal companies for irrigation purposes.
The Spanish Fork Diversion Dam is located several miles up the Spanish Fork Canyon from Spanish Fork City. Originally built in 1908, then rebuilt in 1986.
Payson Diversion Dam originally built in 1935, then rebuilt in 2021. This Diversion Dam is located six miles from Payson City up Payson Canyon used to divert water for hydro-electric generation. Operated by the Strawberry Water Users Association.
The Payson Power Canal begins at the Payson Diversion Dam located six miles from Payson City up Payson Canyon. This canal is one mile long used to convey water to the hydro-electric Power Plant also located in Payson Canyon.
